It takes a bit of work to create all the virtual elements you see in games, for example. That sort of work can be done with the Inivis-developed application AC3D. Available for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux, this application will help you create all sorts of 3D virtual models for all sorts of purposes, from gaming and virtual reality simulation to medical and scientific.

The AC3D installation file weighs in at 12.1MB, meaning that it will not take long for the download to complete. The installation process is simple and takes little time to complete as well. It is a simple matter of just following the steps presented by a setup wizard. You will get to choose the installation directory and whether you want a desktop shortcut or not. In little time and with basically no effort you will have AC3D up and running on your Windows-powered machine. It must be mentioned that there is a Mac and a Linux version on top of the Windows one.

AC3D is not the sort of application that is meant to be used by novices and that point is made clear when you see its interface. It is typical of what you would expect from an application of this type; and typically novice users will have to go through a learning curve to get accustomed to such functionality. To help users get started, AC3D comes with a library of samples and a lengthy manual. On top of that there are tutorial movies and other resources available on the developer’s site.

You have a total of 14 days after installation to test out the functionality that AC3D has to offer. When that trial period is over, you will have to get a license to keep using the application.

Efficiently use the AC3D application for Windows, Mac or Linux to come up with great 3D virtual models.

Cons

Free to use for a 14-day trial period.
